Flexible Options Highlight Latest PC Neighborhood Market
10/27/26

This past week, Porterville College hosted another Neighborhood Market Food Distribution
inside the Jamison Stadium Parking Lot, partnering with the Central California Food
Bank to ensure our students and community neighbors head into the holiday season with
full pantries.
The PC Financial Aid and Basic Needs teams were on hand, trading their office desks
for the stadium to coordinate another seamless distribution event. Working alongside
dedicated volunteers, they spent the morning greeting families and loading vehicles,
proving once again that the heart of PC extends well beyond the classroom.
Expanding Access and Flexibility
Understanding that tight schedules and other circumstances can sometimes make it difficult
to attend a standard distribution window, this month’s event introduced thoughtful
alternative pickup options to make food assistance even more accessible:
- Proxy Pickup: Students and community members could have a family member, friend, or trusted individual pick up food on their behalf by completing the required Central California Food Bank intake form.
- Next-Day Pickup: For those unable to make the Monday morning event, an additional pickup window was offered outside the Porterville College Basic Needs Center on Tuesday morning while supplies lasted.
Providing A Vital Community Lifeline
The Neighborhood Market remains a crucial monthly resource, providing a variety of
fresh and shelf-stable food items to support students, families, and our broader community.
Whether utilizing the standard drive-through model in the Jamison Stadium Parking
Lot or taking advantage of our flexible alternative pickup options, the program ensures
that getting support is as dignified, accessible, and efficient as possible.
We Need Your Help!
These events are a massive undertaking, and they wouldn't be possible without our
incredible volunteers and community partners. Whether you are a student looking to
give back or a staff member wanting to support the cause, we would love to have you
on the team.
For questions about upcoming resources or to get involved, please contact the Basic Needs Center at (559) 791-2281. Thank you to everyone who continues to make these distributions a success!
